Garden Ridge Market Days Supports Comal ISD Campuses

September 7, 2021 - Garden Ridge Market Days turned its August market into a Back-to-School Community Festival and Supply Drive benefitting Comal ISD campuses in their community: Davenport High School, Danville Middle School, Garden Ridge Elementary and Morningside Elementary.

Results from the day-long celebration included $1,081 from the “splash tower” and more than $1,000 in school supplies.

The “splash tower” was one of the main attractions on the hot August day with students and families taking turns splashing teachers, administrators and coaches for cash donations. Some of the favorites to splash were the campus principals who were on hand for the fun including DHS Principal Matt DeLoach, DMS Principal Jason Mummert, GRES Principal Jennifer Schultz and MES Principal Jennifer Smith.

The crowd was entertained by students from the DHS theatre department throughout the day who performed “Don’t Stop Believing.”

In addition, the market days manager, Kim Wood, gave each campus a vendor space where they could sell spirit gear and visit with community members.

“We are committed to continuing to support and build community with our schools, all year long,” said Wood, who plans to make this festival an annual event.

Garden Ridge Market Days is a free, family-friendly market featuring more than 150 local food, farm and craft vendors. It is open every second Saturday of the month at Northeast Bible Church, 19185 FM 2252, Garden Ridge.
